SIMPANG FOUR - The body of a resident of Air Bangis, Amsar (34), who was allegedly eaten by a crocodile in the Suak Batu Kudo River, Jorong Pasar Pokan Air Bangis, Sungai Beremas District, has now been evacuated by a joint team from the Beremas River Police (Polsek), West Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra.

"Joint personnel from the Water and Air Police Unit, the Beremas River Police, TNI, Basarnas and the community together found the victim at 06.30 WIB on the riverbank in a lifeless state," said Head of the Beremas River Police AKP Efriadi in Air Bangis, reported by ANTARA, Saturday, March 2.

He said that on Friday (1/3), at around 14.30 WIB the victim went diving to find a leak to the riverbank using a motorbike.

However, after waiting by the family until 21.00 WIB the victim did not return home

After being reported to Jorong Pasar Pokan, a joint search was carried out on the victim.

The community also found the victim's motorbike parked on the edge of the river along with supplies brought from home.

Personnel from the Satpolairud, personnel from the Beremas River Police and Basarnas and the community conducted a search until 04.00 WIB.

"Then it was continued on Saturday, at around 06.30 WIB, the search continued on the banks of the Suak Batu Kudo River, Jorong Pasa Pokan Air Bangis, about 500 meters from the parking lot of the victim's motorbike," he said.

At that time, it was found that the victim was lying on the river bank dead, with the condition of the right hand and right leg having been cut off, allegedly due to the bite of a wild animal of the type of crocodile.

The victim was then taken to the Air Bangis Health Center for a post-mortem. After that, the victim was taken to his house in Jorong Pasa Pokan Air Bangis Sungai Beremas.

"It is hoped that the community will be careful in looking for fish because wild animals could be attacked," he said.
