Participating In The Funeral Prayer Of Artidjo Alkostar, Jokowi: We Have Lost The Nation's Best Son

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo participated in the funeral prayer for the late Artidjo Alkostar at the Ulil Albab Mosque, Integrated Campus of the Islamic University of Indonesia (UII), Yogyakarta on Monday, March 1 morning.

In a takziah to the late Artijo, Jokowi arrived at 08.00 Western Indonesia Time, accompanied by State Secretary Pratikno. After the takziah, Jokowi expressed his condolences.

"Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un. Yesterday Sunday passed away to the mercy of Allah, Mr. Artidjo Alkostar. We have lost the nation's best son," said Jokowi at the location broadcasted by the Presidential Secretariat Youtube, Monday, March 1.

Jokowi reminisced about the figure of a former Supreme Court Justice during his lifetime. For Jokowi, Artidjo is someone who during his life was devoted for law enforcement.

"He is a law enforcer, supreme justice, and KPK Supervisory Board who is very diligent, honest, has high integrity," said Jokowi.

After conveying his condolences, President Joko Widodo prayed for the deceased to be given the best place by his side. Shortly after that, the President said goodbye to leave the location.

"On behalf of the government, we express our deep condolences," he said.

Artidjo passed away on Sunday, February 28 at 14.00 Western Indonesia Time. He is a legal expert who was born in Situbondo, May 22, 1948. Artidjo has been the KPK Supervisory Board since December 20, 2019 together with Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean, Albertina Ho, Syamsuddin Haris and Harjono.

Before serving as a member of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Artidjo was Chairman of the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court, who was known to provide severe verdicts and additional sentences to defendants in corruption cases.

The body of Artidjo Alkostar will be buried at the Yogyakarta Islamic University (UII) Cemetery at around 10.00 Western Indonesia Time.

"The burial place is in the UII Cemetery Complex, UII Integrated Campus, Kaliurang Street Km. 14.5 Sleman, Yogyakarta," said Acting KPK spokesman Ali Fikri in his statement.
