Jokowi Officially Gives The Rank Of Honorary General To Prabowo Subianto

JAKARTA - Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto received a special promotion from a three-star general to an honorary four-star general from Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

President Joko Widodo during the 2024 TNI Leadership Meeting (Rapim) at TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, Jakarta awarded the award to the Indonesian Defense Minister because he was considered meritorious and contributed to the nation's development, especially in the field of defense and security.

"I would like to convey the awarding of a special rank in the form of an honorary TNI General to Mr. Prabowo Subianto. This award is a form of appreciation as well as affirmation to fully serve the people, to the nation, and to the state," said President Jokowi at the TNI-Polri Rapim event at TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 28.

The President also congratulated Prabowo on the special promotion. "I congratulate Mr. General Prabowo Subianto," Jokowi said to Prabowo.

In a series of meetings, President Jokowi continued to release the three-star general's rank, and pinned the four-star general's rank to Prabowo, as well as hand over the presidential decree (keppres) which became the basis for the promotion of the special rank. Prabowo in the event wore the TNI PDU uniform complete with a brevet, sign of service, and honor.

Prabowo received a special promotion based on Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 13/TNI/2024 which was signed by President Jokowi on February 21, 2024.

Thus, as of today, the Indonesian Defense Minister officially holds the title of General of the TNI (HOR)" in front of his name. He added a row of retired TNI officers who received the award of promotion to the special rank of honorary general after Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Hendropriyono, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and Sarwo Edhie Wibowo.

In the event of giving the special promotion, several people close to Prabowo were seen attending and sitting in the front row, one of which was Prabowo's only son, Ragowo Hediprasetyo Djojohadikusumo, who is also familiarly called Didiet Prasetyo.

The 2024 TNI-Polri Leadership Meeting (Rapim) at GOR Ahmad Yani, TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, Jakarta, was opened by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, who also took the time to give directions to the ranks of the TNI and Polri leaders. In this year's joint TNI-Polri meeting, the TNI as the host raised the theme TNI-Polri Ready to Create Security Defense for Advanced Indonesia.

During the meeting, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto and National Police Chief General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo sat in the same chair group as Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto on the center side of the stage.

Meanwhile, on the right side of the front stage, there is Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak, Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali, Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo, and Deputy Minister of Defense Lt. Gen. TNI (Ret.) M. Herindra.

Then on the left side, there are Chairman of Commission I DPR RI Meutya Hafid, Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP) Moeldoko, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Marshal TNI (Ret.) Hadi Tjahjanto, and Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI Ahmad Muzani.
