SERANG - Serang City Government (Pemkot) dismantled a wild building that was used as a nightclub on Jalan Raya Serang-Jakarta, Kalodran Village, Serang City, Banten.

"This demolition was carried out because the building is a wild building which is also used as a nightclub," said Serang Mayor Yedi Rahmat as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 27.

Yedi admitted that the Serang City Government a week ago had sealed and studied the documents related to the construction of the building, because it was a wild building.

"A few weeks ago we came here, we studied what documents we had to take, and we have learned that this building is a wild building that must be put in order," he said.

This illegal building is also functioned as a nightclub, so that this demolition is supported by the TNI, Polri, kiyai, ulama, warriors, community organizations and the local community.

Despite receiving rejection from the attorney for the owner of a nightclub who claimed to have a property certificate (SHM), the Serang City Government still took firm steps to carry out the demolition.

"The building is a wild building that must be put in order, moreover the building has been converted into a nightclub, causing unrest among the local community," he said.

Three illegal buildings were demolished, in Walantaka District, Serang City, Banten.

Meanwhile, the attorney for the owner of the Night Entertainment Place, Samosir, admitted that he was present at the location because he wanted to question the legal basis for the demolition of the building carried out by the Serang City Government.

"There is no circular or anything. Our experience has never been that the court can demolish a place without reading the minutes, this must be clear on the legal basis," he explained.
