JAKARTA - The Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board has opened their voices about the dispute between PKB Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin and PBNU Secretary General Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul.

After holding the 2024 presidential election, Gus Ipul asked Cak Imin and PKB to return to the right path and in accordance with the direction of NU. This statement was replied by Cak Imin who defended Gus Ipul as an NU broker.

The Commander of the Santri Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Habib Umarsyah assessed that Cak Imin as the vice presidential candidate number 1 should not respond with a cynical statement. Because, according to Umarsyah, Gus Ipul's expression is based on their norms and ethics.

"What Saiful said was something true, which I think Muhaimin had to do. But instead, he was responded sarcastically," Umarsyah told VOI, Tuesday, February 27.

Cak Imin is said to often attach NU's name to his party. However, Umarsyah revealed that Cak Imin had never actually communicated with PBNU about his decision to run as a vice presidential candidate to accompany Anies Baswedan.

After the presidential election was finished, Cak Imin, called Umarsyah, also did not meet PBNU, especially Rais Aam, who is the PBNU's next authority. In fact, PKB often reveals that its party is attached to NU.

"After the election, Muhaimin immediately took steps to neutralize the atmosphere, please. Moreover, so far he has referred to PKB as NU's party. But how come there has never been a conversation? How come he doesn't talk to PBNU?" he said.

Previously, Gus Ipul invited PKB to return to the same lap and road as NU.

"Back to the right path, namely the road that is in accordance with Nahdlatul Ulama," said Gus Ipul in a written statement on Sunday, February 18.

KH Abdurrahman Wahid alias Gus Dur's nephew reminded that as a party that has been claiming that its party is a NU citizen, PKB should immediately return with NU by being able to accept whatever the election results are.

"PBNU has accepted and let us both respect the election results. If PKB claims to be NU's party, yes, let's cool the atmosphere together with PBNU," he said.

Meanwhile, Cak Imin asked the public not to heed Gus Ipul's statement. For Cak Imin, Gus Ipul is just a broker who carries the name of NU.

"Good morning, the change fighters! Keep working to protect the people's voices. Don't look at the broker whose name is Saipul, on behalf of NU, even though it's just a broker," said Cak Imin in the X account @cakimiNOW, Monday, February 19.
