834 Families Of Tornadoes Rancaekek Bandung And Sumedang Refuge

A total of 834 families in Bandung-Sumedang Regency, West Java, have temporarily fled to refugee camps after becoming victims of a tornado that damaged their homes.

Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari said the victims temporarily fled to relatives' homes, prayer rooms, and were at the post provided by Yonif Para Raider 330/D Tri Dharma Bandung and the Ministry of Social Affairs.

The BNPB Pusdalops confirmed that the temporary evacuation posts were spread across Situbuntu Village, Mangunarga Village, Cimanggung District. Each post is complete with basic needs and a health service unit.

"After ensuring that the affected residents are safe and evacuated. The BPBD team, the TNI-Polri Basarnas and village officials have also carried out efforts to clean up the rubble of fallen buildings and trees in Sumedang and Bandung," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, February 22.

A total of 503 houses were damaged after being hit by a tornado.

Each spread in Bandung Regency as many as 493 units and in Sumedang area as many as 10 housing units were damaged by the tornado that occurred on Wednesday (21/2) evening.

"There were 151 housing units of which were heavily damaged and also included 18 factory buildings - shops," he said.
