The Mataram District Attorney, West Nusa Tenggara has detained a candidate for legislative member from West Lombok with the initials MZ in connection with the alleged corruption case of village funds.

Head of the Mataram District Attorney's Intelligence Section Harun Al Rasyid said MZ was involved in corruption while still serving as Babussalam Village Head.

"Now we have entrusted the person concerned to be detained at the West Lombok Prison," Harun said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, February 22.

In this case, MZ underwent detention along with two other suspects who are also former Babussalam Village officials with the initials HI and MU.

The HI suspect in this case acts as village secretary and MU as treasurer. Together with MZ, the two suspects were suspected of having committed malicious conspiracy in managing village funds for the period 2018 to 2019.

The agreement resulted in state losses of Rp666 million in accordance with the results of the West Lombok Inspectorate audit.

As suspects, the three of them are subject to Article 2 paragraph (1) and/or Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.

Harun said this detention was a follow-up to the delegation of suspects and evidence from the West Lombok Police investigators.

Therefore, he said that the public prosecutor is currently drafting an indictment for the requirements for court registration.

"If it is completed (the indictment), we will delegate the case to the court," he said.
