Ambon KPU Rejects Re-voting At 4 TPS Because The Conditions Are Not Fulfilled

The General Election Commission (KPU) of Ambon City rejected the recommendation of Bawaslu for Re-voting (PSU) at four polling stations in Ambon City, because the conditions for the PSU were not met.

"Regarding the PSUdari Bawaslu recommendation to the Ambon City KPU, we have received six recommendations, four of which have been discussed in the KPU plenary meeting and we declare that the four polling stations do not meet the requirements for the PSU," said Ambon City KPU chairman, M. Shadek Fuad, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 21.

He said the four Panwascam recommendations were based on findings in the field, while the KPU for the implementation of the PSU was returned to the meeting by looking at the facts on the ground that occurred and then being reviewed, observed and also studied related to the elements and materials and formal requirements that existed in the incident.

"We have reviewed whether the incident meets the requirements to be implemented or not in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the KPU laws and regulations that regulate the implementation of the PSU," he said.

Meanwhile, there are still two Bawaslu recommendations regarding the PSU that must be discussed in the KPU plenary meeting. In addition to the four polling stations in Baguala and Sirimau sub-districts, Bawaslu also recommended TPSlain in Batu Merah and Karang Panjang villages.

"We will ask for information from KPPS friends and local PPS friends, in order to be discussed in the KPU plenary meeting to determine whether or not to meet the requirements for PSU implementation in the remaining two polling stations," said Shadek.

According to Ambon City Bawaslu Chairman Jhon Talabessy, the findings in the field of the four polling stations were declared valid and eligible for the PSU, but the Ambon City KPU refused, even though the data from Panwascam had met the requirements for the PSU in accordance with KPU Regulation Number 25 of 2023 article 80 paragraph 3.

KPU Regulation Number 25 of 2023 stipulates the requirements for PSU to be carried out, as happened at TPS 11 and TPS 22 Halong, Baguala District, namely that there are voters who vote more than once at the same polling station.

"This is clearly a violation and it is appropriate for the PSU to be carried out. But the KPU's friends did not do the PSU, and of course there were criminal and ethical consequences for the KPU," said Jhon Talabessy.
