Mahfud MD Confirms His Supporting Party Discusses Interpellation Rights In The DPR Regarding Election Fraud

JAKARTA - Vice Presidential Candidate number three, Mahfud MD confirmed that his party with Ganjar Pranowo discussed the opportunity for interpellation rights in the DPR RI because there were indications of fraud during the 2024 General Election. The proposal was discussed during a closed meeting at the High End Building, Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, Thursday, February 15.

"Yes, yes, the interpellation was discussed, but it was the supporting party meeting," said Mahfud at the Mahfud MD Initiative, Senen, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, February 19.

For information, the DPR has three rights in carrying out its supervisory function, namely the right of interpellation, the right of inquiry, and the right to express opinions.

The right of interpellation is the right of the DPR to ask the government for information regarding policies that are important, strategic, and have a broad impact on the life of the community, nation and state.

Returning to Mahfud, he admitted that he did not know how to continue the proposed interpellation right. Together with Ganjar Pranowo, he was tasked with overseeing legal issues.

Meanwhile, the interpellation was discussed by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) together with the United Development Party (PPP) which is in parliament.

"As a candidate pair (to take care of, red) a legal matter, I have submitted it to a special team. So I don't know what it's called, I don't have to know what to do, they continue to work on a special team," said Mahfud.

Likewise regarding the right of inquiry proposed by Ganjar Pranowo. Mahfud said, this is the authority of the two supporting parties, namely PDIP and PPP, which are in parliament.

Including the question of opportunities for communication with the number one pair camp, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar or AMIN.

"The candidate is like I am not a party person, there is no possibility of communication on matters of inquiry," said the former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.

Previously reported, Ganjar Pranowo admitted to opening communication with the presidential and vice presidential camps number one, Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar (AMIN) to roll out the right of inquiry in the DPR RI. The number three presidential candidate felt that this method needed to be done because of indications of fraud during the 2024 presidential election.

If the NasDem Party, Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), and the National Awakening Party (PKB) in the AMIN camp join the PDI-P (PDIP) and the United Development Party (PPP) then the right of inquiry can be rolled out.

"That's why we have to open the door of communication with the party supporting Anies-Muhaimin," said Ganjar in a written statement, Monday, February 19.

The former governor of Central Java assessed that the right of inquiry could be a way to hold the General Election Commission (KPU) and the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) accountable as election organizers. "If the DPR is not ready with the right of inquiry, I encourage the use of the DPR's right to interpellate to criticize fraud in the 2024 presidential election," said the PDIP politician.
