Bawaslu: 27 Election Supervisory Officers Died

JAKARTA - Bawaslu member Herwyn JH Malonda received a total report that 27 election supervisors in 2024 died.

"Our data has been updated until today, February 19, 2024, the data is from 2023 to February 19, 2024, in handling this, there are 1,322. For outpatient 177, inpatient 147, accident 71, death there are 27," said Herwyn at the Ministry of Health, Jakarta, Monday 19 February.

He detailed that 7 election supervisors who died in 2023 and 7 people died during the period 1-13 February, and 13 people died from 14-19 February.

Until now, Bawaslu is still monitoring the ranks of election supervisors because the election is still running. Herwyn appealed to election supervisors if they are sick to coordinate with the Health Office during the voting, regarding the re-voting / follow-up / proposal.

However, compared to last year's election (2019), continued Herwyn, the number of election supervisors who died was more than the 2024 election, which was at 92 people.

As for the election officials who died, Herwyn said, compensation of Rp. 36 million and funeral compensation of Rp. 10 million would be given. As for permanent defects and serious injuries of Rp. 16.5 million, and moderate injuries of Rp. 8.25 million.

Meanwhile, the election organizers based on reports from the KPU as of February 14-18, 71 people died and 4,567 people fell ill.
