Seeing 71 Central Java Police Detainees Vote Behind Bars

Central Java Regional Police guarantees that prisoners in detention centers can exercise their voting rights in the 2024 General Election. In yesterday's vote, Wednesday, February 15, 71 Central Java Police detainees voted at the polling stations (TPS) which had been prepared by the KPPS in the Kalurahan Mugassari area, in the Hall of the Central Java Police Detention Center.

Based on information received on Thursday, February 15, the voting conducted by the detainees was witnessed by the Director of Tahti Polda Central Java AKBP Benny Setyowadi, Wadir Tahti Polda Central Java, Kompol. Muh Khoirul Naim, PJU Dit Tahti, KPU, Bawaslu, KPPS officers, and a number of witnesses.

"All Indonesian citizens, including detainees who are in the Central Java Police Detention Center, are given the right to vote (provide votes) on voting day on February 14," said Director tahti Benny Setyowadi.

He explained that his party had coordinated with the General Election Commission (KPU) to provide TPS at the Central Java Police Detention Center.

"In this case, the KPU KPPS for the Kalurahan Mugassari region came as many as 6 polling stations, including TPS 11, TPS 16, TPS 17, TPS 18, TP 19 and TPS 20," said Dir tahti.

"Currently, the number of prisoners who have the right to vote is 71 out of a total of 88 detainees. And the ballots for the 71 people were taken from the remaining 6th polling stations", he explained.

Dir Tahti also stated that his party had conducted socialization about the procedures for voting some time ago with the KPU.

"The voting mechanism has been socialized previously with the KPU, PPK and PPS, today for implementing officers who come from the Kalurahan Mugassari Regional TPS," said AKBP Benny Setyowadi.

Meanwhile, one of the detainees with the initials HST in the narcotics crime case from Wonosobo, gave his appreciation for being given the right to vote in the 2024 General Election.

"I did not expect to be served well like this, I would like to thank the Central Java Regional Police for being given the opportunity to participate in voting (providing votes) so that my rights are not lost," he said.
