Motorcycle Workshop In East Jakarta Burns, 1 Person Dies

JAKARTA - A fire broke out at home as well as a motorcycle repair shop on Jalan Kayu Manis IX, Matraman, East Jakarta, Friday, February 9, early in the morning. As a result, one person died.

East Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Nicolas Ary Llipaly said the incident began when the patient victim was patching tires using fire at the scene. Meanwhile, another victim, Jofian, was pouring gasoline into a mineral plastic bottle.

However, the fire that was used to patch tires actually grabbed into the gasoline. So the fire broke out.

The fire grabbed the two victims. The first victim ran into the workshop and was trapped in an enlarged fire causing the victim to die and the left and right buildings from the workshop caught fire," Nicolas said in his statement, Sunday, February 11.

"Jofian managed to save himself running from the location," he continued.

Residents who were at the location immediately took Jovian to the Matraman Regional General Hospital (RSUD). The goal is to take medical action.

The victim of hand burns and the back of the body is being treated at the Matraman Hospital.

Furthermore, residents contacted East Jakarta firefighters. As a result, the fire was extinguished.

Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation Unit and the East Jakarta Police picket along with the East Jakarta Police Inafis conducted a crime scene investigation, in order to carry out further investigations.

"The Criminal Investigation Unit and the East Jakarta Police picket along with the East Jakarta Police Inafis check or process the crime scene," he concluded.
