JAKARTA - Based on input from potential buyers, Russia's Sukhoi Su-75 Checkmate single-engine light tactical fighter jet will experience technical changes that will allow it to optimize its costs, according to state defense firm Rostec.
Rostec's United Aircraft Corporation received input from potential buyers regarding the Checkmate project. In addition to receiving additional requirements, disclosed by potential buyers, efforts are made to optimize costs and analyze certain technical solutions," Rostec said.
"This allows to improve competitive performance and commercial attraction, as well as reduce technical risks while creating domestically made single-engine aircraft," Rostec said.
The company said, because of the aircraft's modular design and the use of modern digital technology, technical changes can be made within a short period of time.
Meanwhile, Director of Federal Services for Russian Military and Technical Cooperation (FSCTC) Dmitry Shugayev previously told TASS the FSCTC was consulting with several foreign customers regarding cooperation as part of the Checkmate project.
Russia's Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov also said foreign customers showed their interest in the fighter. In his statement, Russian engineers have made adjustments to the layout, control and weapon system of the aircraft based on their input.
