Bawaslu Beware Of Money Politics And Campaigns In A Time Of Peace

KARAWANG - The General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) reminded all levels of supervisory at each level to be aware of the occurrence of money politics and campaign activities during calm times.

"The calm period is one of the stages of the election that the supervisors must watch out for," said Bawaslu member Lolly Suhenty, while inspecting the election logistics warehouse in Karawang Regency, West Java, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 7.

In accordance with the election stages, campaign activities will end on February 10, 2024, and enter a period of calm on February 11-13, 2024.

Lolly said that various types of violations such as money politics, campaign activities, neutrality of the state civil apparatus and other types of violations could occur in a calm period later.

In the context of money politics and campaigns, Bawaslu reminded all election participants about the potential for criminal violations during calm times.

"Including ASN (state civil servants), who are involved in calm times, they can be subject to election criminal sanctions," he said.

The Coordinator of the Prevention, Community Participation and Public Relations Division of Bawaslu said that money politics, campaign activities, and neutrality are things that must be watched out for by the supervisory staff.

As a precautionary measure, Bawaslu at all levels made appeals to all election participants.

In addition, coordination is also carried out with various parties. Including all people not to do things that are prohibited in calm times.

Meanwhile, towards the end of the campaign period, Lolly asked the supervisory staff to improve the quality of his supervision. Because the last days of the campaign period still have a high potential for violations.

It was also conveyed that the supervisory staff should coordinate with stakeholders related to the cleaning of campaign props (APK) that are still installed in peace.
