JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo has set the voting day for the General Election, Wednesday, February 14, 2024, as a national holiday.

The determination is contained in Presidential Decree Number 10 of 2024 concerning Voting Day for General Elections in 2024 as National Holidays.

The Presidential Decree was issued with the consideration, first, that the determination of the national holiday in the context of the 2024 General Election was carried out in order to provide the widest possible opportunity for Indonesian citizens to exercise their voting rights.

Second, based on the provisions of Article 167 paragraph (3) of the Election Law, it is stated that the voting is held simultaneously on holidays or holidays that are closed nationally.

Reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 6, on the third point, based on General Election Commission Regulation (KPU) Number 3 of 2022 concerning Stages and Schedules for the 2024 General Election, the KPU has set Wednesday, February 14, 2024 as the day and date for the 2024 General Election Billing and Vote Counting at the polling place.

Fourth, based on the considerations as referred to in these three points, it is necessary to make the President's decision on the 2024 Election Voting Day as a National Holiday.

The Presidential Decree was appointed by the President Tuesday, February 6, 2024, and is valid from the date of stipulation.
