The UKI Chancellor Concerned About The Political Situation Of The 2024 Election

JAKARTA - The campus of the Indonesian Christian University (UKI) Cawang, East Jakarta has expressed a political stance regarding the political and democratic situation in the country ahead of the 2024 general election (Pemilu) which will be held on February 14.

The Chancellor, professor, and several UKI lecturers agreed to state some of these attitudes at the UKI Seminar Room AB Building.

The Chancellor of UKI, Prof Dhaniswara K. Harjono said this statement was made because it was related to the implementation of the 2024 General Election.

"Especially for those who have the potential to injure the ethical moral principles of humanitarian democracy and social justice, especially those that threaten the division of the nation," said Dhaniswara, Tuesday, February 6.

Dhaniswara said the first point was to call on all components of the nation to participate in creating a conducive atmosphere in peaceful elections.

"In order to determine the leader of the Indonesian nation in the next five years by upholding the values of national unity and integrity," he said.

Furthermore, the second point was conveyed by Dhaniswara by urging state officials, namely the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) of the Indonesian National Army (TNI), and the Police to always uphold the oath of moral ethics.

"As well as prioritizing the interests of the nation above the interests of certain individuals or groups or groups or political parties," he said.

Furthermore, Dhaniswara said, his party also urged the termination of all forms of intervention similar to actions that restrained or suppressed freedom of expression in the implementation of the 2024 General Election.

They also invite elements of society and the academic community to support the implementation of elections that are directly free and confidential to overflowing and honest and fair (Jurdil).

"This is for the sake of upholding democracy and laws that are of social justice based on Pancasila and the 1945 basic law and prioritizing the welfare of the people, starting from preparation for implementation to post-implementation of voting," he said.
