Anticipate Riots Again, 2,730 Personnel Secure Village Head Demo In DPR

A total of 2,730 personnel were deployed to secure a demonstration by the Village Head Association and Village Apparatus who are members of the Village Joint Action Volume IV in front of the DPR/MPR building, Tuesday, February 6.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro said the 2,730 personnel consisted of Polda Metro Jaya, Polres Metro Central Jakarta, TNI and Pemda DKI Jakarta.

"Personnel will later be placed at a number of points around the DPR," he said.

Susatyo said that his party had anticipated if the demonstration ended in chaos.

"As a result of the evaluation of previous demonstrations, the masses burned tires, closed toll roads and damaged the fence of the DPR Building," he said.

"For today's demonstrations, we have anticipated this by preparing a number of personnel to provide security and prevent mass action to enter toll roads," he continued.

Susatyo added that his party had prepared traffic engineering around the DPR/MPR area. One of them is blocking Pulau Dua.

"Vehicles from the inner toll road that will go to the toll exit in front of the DPR are closed and straightened towards Slipi," he said.

Furthermore, Susatyo appealed to participants of demonstrations not to be anarchic and to respect other passing motorists.

"With the preparation and readiness of the security that we have carried out, we urge all parties to always maintain security and order, so that demonstrations can run safely and in an orderly manner," he concluded.
