SLEMAN - Candidate for vice president number 3 Mahfud Md reminded the General Elections Commission (KPU) to start now being careful after being decided by the Honorary Council of Election Organizers (DKPP) to violate the code of ethics.
"Therefore, the KPU is careful from now on," said Mahfud during the Collision event, Prof! in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, reported by ANTARA, Monday, February 5.
Previously, DKPP decided that KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari and six other members violated the code of ethics in accepting Gibran Rakabuming Raka's registration as vice presidential candidates in the 2024 election.
Mahfud also reminded the KPU that they had committed violations many times. In fact, he said, Hasyim Asy'ari had received two stern warnings.
"And to remember, this KPU has committed many violations, many times. If we tell you, it is only fixed, then there will be no further improvement. This is the next mistake, and Brother Hasyim Asy'ari is the fault of two stern warnings," he said.
Therefore, Mahfud said that if Hasyim Asy'ari commits another violation, then he must be dismissed.
"Hasyim Asy'ari found a serious mistake or violation, but if it happens again he must be dismissed from the KPU," he said.
In addition, Mahfud said the KPU's decision to designate Gibran as a vice presidential candidate did not violate the procedure.
"Legally, in general, the procedural nomination of Mas Gibran is of course valid. Whatever the decision of the Honorary Council of Election Implementation will not, legally, it will not affect the procedures that have been established," he said.

Mahfud explained that the DKPP decision was only to try KPU members personally, not decisions that had been made.
"Why? DKPP is a personal trial, adjudicating the personalities of KPU members. It is not the KPU's decision, the product is not a problem. This is a personal thing, Hasyim Asy'ari is guilty, others are also guilty," he said.
To note, Hasyim and six KPU members were reported by Demas Brian Wicaksono with case Number 135-PKE-DKPP/XII/2023, Iman Munandar B. (Number 136-PKE-DKPP/XII/2023), PH Hariyanto (Number 137-PKE-DKPP/XII/2023), and Rumondang Damanik (Number 141-PKE-DKPP/XII/2023).
