Airlangga: Prabowo's Humble In Debate Lowers Political Tennision

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto assessed that the humility of presidential candidate number two Prabowo Subianto, which was reflected in his closing statement in the fifth debate of the 2024 presidential election, could reduce political tension at this time.

"Pak Prabowo's final statement shows a statesmanship and a very humble (low) attitude and we are happy because with that it reduces political tension," Airlangga told reporters after attending the Isra Miraj 1445 Hijriah Commemoration and Golkar Indonesia's Al-Quran (GIBRAN) activities in South Tangerang, Banten, reported by ANTARA, Monday, February 5.

In general, Airlangga also assessed that the last debate held on Sunday (4/2) was going well.

"Last night's debate, I think the debate was good. Most of the candidate pairs held back," he said.

Previously, in the debate between the five presidential elections, Prabowo apologized to his two rivals, namely the presidential and vice presidential candidates number 01 and 03 when delivering the closing statement.

Prabowo said that his party only wanted to do what was best for the Indonesian nation and maintain harmony, unity, and kinship between all community groups.

"We have only been carrying out a campaign that has been full of enthusiasm, full of contestation, sometimes full of harsh words, but in good faith, I think three pairs of candidates want the best for the Indonesian people," he said.

The presidential candidate number 2 emphasized that despite the difference in attitude between his two rivals, he believes that he, Anies, and Ganjar are both fighting for the benefit of the Indonesian people.

"I still think that Mas Anies, Mas Muhaimin, Pak Ganjar, Mr. Mahfud are my own brothers and sisters. We are fighting for the Indonesian people. We are fighting, because our love for the Indonesian people," said Prabowo.
