Kaesang Sindir Corruption Bansos Worse Than Politization, Hasto: There Is No Intervention Of Our Legal Process

JAKARTA - Secretary-General of the PDI-P (PDIP), Hasto Kristiyanto, responded to the statement by the Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) who said that corruption in social assistance (bansos) was more severe than politics.

Social assistance corruption is known to have been carried out by the former Minister of Social Affairs or Minister of Social Affairs who is also a PDIP politician, Juliari Batubara.

According to Hasto, in that case Juliari Batubara had received legal sanctions in the form of imprisonment for 12 years. Moreover, PDIP also did not protect him.

"The punishment is already there, there is already a legal process, there is no protection," Hasto told reporters at the PDIP DPP office, Jakarta, Monday, February 5.

In addition, Juliari Batubara's actions to corrupt social assistance are purely a criminal problem. In contrast to the current polemic.

"There are no electoral functions, there is no intervention for our legal process if this is a problem, there is intervention in the legal process by using power even with social assistance," he said.

In fact, Hasto challenged PSI to open the floating data of his campaign at the moment of the General Election (Pemilu) at this time. This is because there are suspicions that the billboards installed by the party are not proportional to the number of members.

"We will just be held accountable to check the financial statements and let our democratic groups invite us to calculate how many billboards and PSI have reported how many members," said Hasto.

PSI General Chair, Kaesang Pangarep previously responded to the issue of politicization of social assistance at the moment of the 2024 General Election. According to him, corruption in social assistance is far more problematic.

"Maybe it's a problem at this time. But I think it's much more problematic if the social assistance is when COVID is corrupted," said Kaesang.
