JAKARTA - The National Team for Winning Anies-Muhaimin (AMINAn National Team) Thomas Trikasih Lembong alias Tom Lembong admitted that he had been part of the initial formulating team for the Omnibus Law on the Job Creation Act.

The formulation of this regulation, said Tom, began to be initiated since the first period of President Joko Widodo. Meanwhile, Tom is the former Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board from 2016 to 2019.

"I included several Omnibus Law officials in the first term of President Jokowi," said Tom during a discussion at the PKS DPP office, South Jakarta, Thursday, January 1.

According to Tom's testimony, the contents of the initial draft Omnibus Law with the Job Creation Law which was passed in the DPR RI are currently much different.

"I can say that the final product that came out of the DPR's legislation is very, very different from the initial intention of President Jokowi's first term," said Tom.

Tom also sees that currently the Job Creation Law has not been seen to contribute to boosting people's purchasing power to opening up employment opportunities.

"It should be quite clear that the omnibus law is not a deliverer, has not succeeded in boosting economic growth, has not succeeded in overcoming challenges such as high food prices, high education," he explained.

That is why the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair number 1, Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar promised to revise the Job Creation Law which has also drawn rejection from the public.

"This item must really be revised because it didn't work," he concluded.

Previously, Anies was committed to reviewing the Omnibus Law on the Job Creation Law. According to the former Governor of DKI Jakarta, the Ciptaker Law does not provide a sense of justice for workers.

"We are committed to reviewing the Job Creation Act so that regulations that are deemed not to provide a sense of justice can be corrected to provide a sense of justice," Anies said at the Urge & Slepet AMIN event in Jakarta, Monday, January 29.

Anies said the Ciptaker Law, which was drafted to create jobs, reaped contradictory results.

Citing data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Anies said unemployment fell 5.3 percent during the era of the leadership of the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. In the post-UU Ciptaker era, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), unemployment only fell 0.73 percent.

"This means that there are indicators that show that the job creation effort did not happen. With regulations like this, we must ensure," he said.
