JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has finally signed an agreement to provide alternative fuel from waste processing from the operation of the refused developerfuel (RDF) of Plant Bantargebang to the offtaker of the cement industry.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto, explained that initially in the process of building RDF Plant facilities, many people received criticism and pessimism from various parties.
However, now the DKI Provincial Government can produce RDF waste processing with quality according to standards and can be accepted by the cement industry offtaker.
There is no such large-scale RDF Plant facility in Indonesia at all. The trial and error process is very long to reach this stage," Asep said in his statement, Thursday, January 1.
Asep said that this collaboration is a step forward for DKI Jakarta's DLH in its waste management efforts.
"This is a strategic step and hopefully it can be an example for other regions in Indonesia in waste management," he said.
Furthermore, Asep hopes that this collaboration can show evidence of the government's seriousness in realizing a sustainable energy transition.
"We are helping the industry to realize the energy transition with the waste processing we carry out," he added.

Since mid-2023, the waste processing sold by the DKI Provincial Government has not been in accordance with Indocement and SBI in terms of quality and quantity. That's why the trial is carried out until the official cooperation is signed on Wednesday, January 31, 2024.
