Mahfud is rumored to be meeting with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) today, Thursday, February 1 to submit his resignation letter. "This letter of resignation will be submitted after I received a schedule meeting with President Jokowi. I brought this letter forward because as soon as I was given time, I immediately conveyed it," said Mahfud MD in Central Lampung, Wednesday. President Jokowi plans to return to Jakarta today after making a working visit to Central Java. Mahfud, who is currently carrying out a political safari in several regions, will also return to Jakarta today. It is said that the vice presidential candidate (cawapres) assistant Ganjar Pranowo in the 2024 presidential election, he was appointed by Jokowi as the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs with good trust and honor, so he will resign. "I will say goodbye well and will submit this letter as soon as I get the schedule. I am appointed full honor, and I also respect President Jokowi," Mahfud said after a discussion entitled Collis Prof in Banda Aceh, Wednesday yesterday.

Mahfud conveyed that the reason for his resignation from the position of Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs was due to political differences. He also did not want to interfere with the course of government. "Because of different political choices, I need to go to the side first so as not to disturb the government, so that I also don't get disturbed (as a vice presidential candidate)," he said.
