Ganjar Visits Bung Hatta's Shelter House In Banda Neira

JAKARTA - Candidate for vice president number 3 Ganjar Pranowo visited a number of historical sites when visiting Banda Neira, Maluku, one of which was the exile of Bung Hatta, which is currently being immortalized as a museum.

In that place, Ganjar toured the complex and the house. Including the living room and work room, as well as the gardens and buildings at the back.

On the back there are still class benches complete with black people's whiteboards. It is said that the building was used as a school for local residents by Bung Hatta.

"This is a historical place, at that time Bung Hatta was exiled by the invaders. And this is still a place for children's schools around here," said Ganjar in a written statement reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 30.

Ganjar admitted that he was amazed by Bung Hatta's spirit. Even though he is in exile, he is still thinking about education for local residents.

"The spirit is extraordinary. Of course it should be an inspiration and enthusiasm for people now that education for Bung Hatta is very important," said Ganjar.

The presidential candidate paired with Mahfud MD also has the same passion for education.

In the program, focus on providing access to education for the poor through the One Poor Family One Bachelor program. In addition, also with the Free Internet and Medium program as a supporting medium for learning for students.

It is known that Banda Island Neira was once the center of world nutmeg (mall flower) trading. Banda Neira is the only spice-producing island of high value until the middle of the 19th century. That's what makes the European nation attracted to control.

The island, which has a population of 14,000 people, was also used as a place of exile for national fighters during the Dutch East Indies Colonial Government. Some of them are Mohammad Hatta, Sutan Syahrir, and Cipto Mangunkusumo.
