Gibran Promises To Help Batik Craftsmen In Pekalongan

PEKALONGAN - Cawapres Gibran Rakabuming Raka promised to help the businesses of batik craftsmen when meeting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) batik in Pekalongan, Central Java.

In his campaign agenda on the north coast of Java, Gibran heard several complaints experienced by batik entrepreneurs and craftsmen, including sales of batik that had not improved after the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Ladies and gentlemen, after the Covid period, the sales are normal, right?" Gibran asked the craftsmen as reported by ANTARA, Monday, January 29.

The craftsman also replied: "Not yet"

They then tell that young people today are more sophisticated in marketing their products. Some craftsmen, especially those who are quite old, admit that they have difficulty competing with young people because they are more proficient in marketing throughe-commerce products.

"Young people aged 24 to 30 years, so sometimes the children seem to be able to buy a house, buy a car, who already has a cloth shop in Pantura that's fun," said one of the batik craftsmen.

He asked Gibran to help craftsmen be more proficient in marketing their batik fabrics through e-commerce.

"While there is Mas Gibran here, for parents, especially in this area, learning needs to be learned to sell on a cellphone," he said.

Gibran then gave an example that there is a place for MSME players to market their products on e-commerce.

"In Solo, there is a Shopee Campus, it will be taught how to take product photos, how to beat them, so everyone learns, the young are learning, the elderly are learning, because people will prefer to be online," said Gibran.

During the meeting, Gibran promised to market Pekalongan batik handicraft products.

"Thank you very much for the input from Mr., Mrs., later I will definitely come back to Pekalongan to complete the PR-PR from Mr., Mrs. all regarding internet connection, MSME training, related to digitization later, we will definitely help," said Gibran to Pekalongan traders and craftsmen.

Pekalongan became one of Gibran's preferred cities on the 63rd day of the 2024 presidential election campaign. After Pekalongan, Gibran continued his trip to Tegal to meet the community of farmers and fishermen.
