TKN Nilai Tidak Pas Mahfud MD Dilaporkan Ke Bawaslu Atas Dugaan Menghina Gibran

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of TKN Habiburokhman also commented on a report against Vice President Mahfud MD to Bawaslu regarding the alleged insult to Gibran Rakabuming Raka regarding the vice presidential debate.

According to Habiburokhman, it is not appropriate for the statement in the debate to be complained of as a form of election violation. Moreover, the debate was witnessed by all Indonesian people through television broadcasts.

"When it comes to the presidential candidate debate, I don't think it's right to report it. Debate is a dialogical process, yes, people can talk to each other about denying it," said Habiburokhman at the Media Center TKN Prabowo-Gibran, Friday, January 26.

"Drugs on TV are sometimes violent, it's a normal dynamic, so I don't think it's right to be reported to Bawaslu about the debate," he continued.

Although, continued Habiburokhman, such as for example the presidential candidate Anies Baswedan who stated that the data was wrong when criticizing the policy of the Minister of Defense in purchasing defense equipment.

Without the Ministry of Defense reporting Anies, the public already thinks that the former governor of DKI Jakarta lied because he conveyed information that did not match the facts.

"Although for example, Mr. Anies, it is true that the news that is considered by the public is a lie of Rp700 trillion to buy used defense equipment, people say that they lie, they are unethical, we just return it to the community to judge," he said.

The deputy governor of Gerindra also emphasized that his party had nothing to do with the report against Mahfud to Bawaslu.

"Oh I don't know," said Habiburokhman.

Previously, Advocates for Election Supervisory or Awaslu reported Vice Presidential Candidate number 3 Mahfud MD, to Bawaslu for the alleged insult to Vice Presidential Candidate number 2, Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The chairman of Wasalu, Mualimin said that Mahfud had violated Article 280 Paragraph 1 letter c in conjunction with Article 521 of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections, and Article 72 Paragraph 1 letter (c) of General Election Commission Regulation (PKPU) Number 20 of 2023 concerning Election Campaigns.

Mahfud was reported for being considered to have attacked and insulted Gibran at the Fourth Debate of the Vice President by using words such as: crazy, inconsequential, smallx, and even useless questions. And from these allegations, Mahfud will receive a 2-year criminal threat and a fine of Rp. 24 million. The General Elections Supervisory Agency confirmed that there was an incoming report on January 25 for alleged violation of the vice presidential candidate number 3.Mahfud MD.

However, the report will still be reviewed by checking the completeness of all the evidence of the report and the requirements. After being reviewed, the report will be registered, then Bawaslu will decide whether the report is included in administrative or criminal violations.

However, Mahfud stated that he did not care about the parties who reported it for the alleged insult case he had committed against Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
