Vice President Ma'ruf Amin: Minister Wants To Resign Is Hannay, No Problem

SEMARANG - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin assessed that the desire or decision to resign from the ministerial position is the right of someone who does not need to be questioned.

"I think it's like the President (Joko Widodo) said, if someone wants to resign because it is their right. A minister resigns, that's his right. So, there is no problem," said the Vice President as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, January 26.

This was conveyed by him in response to reporters' questions regarding Mahfud MD's plan to withdraw from the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.

If later the minister really resigns, said the Vice President, who will be his successor is the President's authority to appoint a new minister or simply appoint a temporary official.

"Later, if there is a resignation, whether it will be replaced or a temporary official. That is the prerogative of the President," he said.

Of course, said Vice President Ma'ruf, the President will consider well the replacement figure if there are really ministers who resign.

Ma'ruf also assessed that Mahfud's resignation from the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs did not cause any disturbances to the performance of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet under the leadership of President Joko Widodo.

"I hope there will be no disturbances because that is the right of a minister to resign. Of course, a definitive minister will definitely be appointed who knows exactly the problem of the police. I don't think it will be too disturbing," he said.
