The West Sulawesi Province Quarantine confiscated a number of plant and animal commodities without supporting documents imported from Kalimantan Island through the Simboro Ferry Port, Mamuju Regency. "We are holding (sita) the commodities of plants and animals imported through the Simboro Ferry Port because they are not equipped with a requirement document from Kalimantan," said Head of the Law Enforcement Team of the West Sulawesi Animal, Fish and Plant Quarantine Center (BKHIT) Khaeruddin in Mamuju, Antara, Thursday, January 25. Details of plant and animal commodities are 45 durian seedlings, 11 mango seeds, two coconut seedlings, two orange seedlings, and two Persian cats. The legal action, said Khaeruddin, began when Quarantine officials monitored the traffic of carrier media and found a number of animal and plant commodities that did not have quarantine certificates from their area of origin. "Detention will be carried out for three days and will be rejected or returned to the area of origin if the owner is unable to complete the required documents in question," explained Khaeruddin. In addition to carrying out detention, his party also provides education to the owner of the carrier media to report to the Quarantine Officer when they want to bring or send animal, fish and plant commodities. Meanwhile, the Head of the West Sulawesi Quarantine Umar stated that his party would tighten supervision in all quarantine units and services to minimize the possibility of carrier media passing and not reporting quarantine.
