JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo had a chance to talk with Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto while inspecting the C-130J-30 Super Hercules aircraft at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, Wednesday, January 24. This can be seen in one of the photos received from the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta. It is not known what Jokowi discussed with Prabowo because journalists did not get on the Super Hercules plane when the President and Prabowo conducted a review. During the review, Chairman of Commission I DPR RI Meutya Hafid and TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto were also present. After the review, President Jokowi only said that the existence of Super Hercules aircraft was very important, both for war and non-war purposes. "(Aircrafts) can carry 120 soldiers and approximately 20 tons. I think it is very good for a country as big as Indonesia, an archipelagic country whose airports sometimes only have a short runway. Now, this can be accommodated by Super Hercules and can fly for about 11 hours non-stop," Jokowi said as quoted by Antara. Previously, President Joko Widodo witnessed the symbolic handover of the C-130J-30 Super Hercules aircraft from the Ministry of Defense to the Indonesian Air Force at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, Wednesday. The handover of the aircraft was carried out by Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto to Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal TNI Fadjar Prasetyo. On that occasion, the Ministry of Defense also handed over two helicopters from the refurbishment, namely the Fennec helicopter and its spare parts to the Indonesian Army which were received by the Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak, as well as the results of the refurbishment and critical parts of the US Panther helicopter 565 MBE to the Indonesian Navy which was received by the Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali.

The President assessed that the presence of the helicopter was also very good. "Yes, good, I think everything must be prepared because to support our frigates (patrol warships), they can get off our frigates, I think helicopters like Fennec are very important," said Jokowi.
