Good News From Minister Nadiem, This Year's High School/SMK PIP Assistance Increases To IDR 1.8 Million

JAKARTA - Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Anwar Makarim said the amount of assistance for the Indonesia Smart Program (PIP) in 2024 for high school and vocational school levels increased from IDR 1 million per person to IDR 1.8 million per person. "The increase in the aid unit from Rp. 1 million to Rp. 1.8 million for high school and vocational high school students," he said in a statement in Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, January 23. In addition to increasing the amount of assistance, PIP recipients for SMA and SMK levels also increased, namely 567,531 students for high school and 99,104 students for vocational schools. Overall, recipients of PIP assistance in 2024 reached 18.6 million students at elementary, junior high, high school, and vocational levels with IDR 450 thousand for elementary schools and IDR 750 thousand for junior high schools. Meanwhile, last year's PIP, until November 23, 2023, has realized the total or 100 percent of the target, which was received by 18,109,119 recipients. Nadiem ensured that his party would continue to improve the quality of the implementation of the PIP program as part of efforts to equalize the rights and quality of education. Regarding the accuracy of the PIP assistance target, the Head of the Education Financing Service Center (Puslapdik) of the Ministry of Education and Culture Abdul Kahar explained that the target recipients of PIP were sourced from Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS) which had been verified by the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos). The DTKS data is then matched with Basic Education Data (Dapodik) to check the student's whereabouts at school. In addition, since 2023 Puslapdik has also matched the Data on the Targeting of the Elimination of Extreme Poverty (P3KE) obtained from the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN).
