Jarnas 98 Questions Mahfud MD's Comments Calling The Current Blunt Law

JAKARTA - Head of the Advocacy and Law Division of the National Activistic Network (Jarnas) 98, Sabar Daniel Hutahaen assessed that the Candidate for Vice President (Cawapres) number 3, Mahfud MD is an shameless figure. The reason is, during the closing statement of the vice presidential debate, last Sunday, January 21, Mahfud conveyed that law enforcement is currently blunt and tends to be able to be conditioned by the authorities.

"Such a statement is tantalizing himself, shameless, because he is currently leading the Indonesian Ministry of Politics, Law and Security as Minister," said Sabar on Jalan Cawang Baru Utara, East Jakarta, Monday, January 22.

It is further said that Sabar, the Minister who leads the Indonesian Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (KemenKoPolhukam) works based on Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 73 of 2020 concerning the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs. In this regulation, Mahfud, who is given the authority to coordinate, synchronize and control the affairs of ministries in the administration of government in the fields of politics, law and security.

"He has the authority according to the regulation to ensure that law enforcement is not blunt. Then yesterday he conveyed that law enforcement is currently blunt. He is healthy or sick, right? We deserve to ask questions," continued Sabar.

Sabar menambahkan, sebagai ahli Hukum, Mahfud memiliki kapasitas di atas rata-rata lulusan pulang hukum di Indonesia. Hanya saja, setelah menjadi Cawapres dari Capres Ganjar Pranowo, kapasitas tersebut menurun tajam.

"Well, I suggest Mahfud just step back rather than destroying his reputation as a top-level legal expert," he said.

"The main problem is that our legal sword is blunt, if the legal sword is not blunt we can definitely hit it all out, the development program will run well.
