Riau Improves Infrastructure Damaged Due To Pekanbaru And Siak Floods

PEKANBARU - The Department of Public Works for Spatial Planning and Housing of the Land Settlement Area (PUPR-PKPP) of Riau Province has repaired infrastructure damaged due to flooding in Pekanbaru City and Siak Regency.

"The infrastructure that was repaired was the drainage on the left and right of the Siak IV Bridge in Pekanbaru City and the repair of the box culvert in Siak Regency," said Head of the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of Jalan and Jembatan Region I, Khairil Anwar, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, January 22.

Box culvert is a precast concrete product in the form of a box produced using iron prints with the aim of making it for the benefit of a canal or culvert, this concrete is also one of the types of reinforced concrete or reinforced concrete.

He said the repair of this reinforced concrete in Siak Regency or on the provincial road section, Onecut-Musjid-Simpang Pusako Bay.

In Siak Regency, a landslide occurred which caused box culvert to be damaged. So the box culvert fell into the river and broke so that it needed to be repaired immediately.

In addition, his party also handles drainage on the left and right of the Siak IV bridge in Pekanbaru City, so that the water through the drainage can run smoothly to the Dutch Trench.

"Thus, the physical infrastructure work is focused so that flooding does not occur at the base of the Siak IV Pekanbaru Bridge. So the water flowing in the drainage is not hampered towards the Dutch Trench," he said.

The provincial government is also concentrating on repairing potholes in Pekanbaru City, Siak Regency and Pelalawan Regency.

"The work that has been completed is to repair the potholes leading to the Siak IV Bridge. This road has enough holes in the post-flood with a hole depth of up to 60 cm," he said.
