Erick Thohir Approves Abdee Slank's Resignation, His Substitute Has Not Been Determined

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir has received a letter of resignation from Abdi Negara Nurdin, known as Abdee Negara or Abdee Slank from Independent Commissioner of PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk (Telkom). Special Staff III of the Minister of SOEs Arya Sinulingga said Abdee had submitted his resignation letter on Friday, January 19. "Last Friday, Mr. Erick was conveyed by Abdee that Abdee had submitted a letter of resignation on Friday," Arya said when inaugurating the vending machine for MSME products at Gambir Station, Jakarta, Antara, Monday, January 22. Arya conveyed that Abdee's resignation was because the Slank personnel were actively involved in the campaign of one of the pairs of presidential candidates (candidates) and vice presidential candidates (cawapres). To comply with applicable regulations within the Ministry of SOEs related to political activities, Abdee chose to resign. "Declaring that support is okay, as long as you don't campaign. Abdee is active in campaigning, if he starts campaigning then he must resign," said Arya. Arya said several SOE commissioners had expressed their support for the presidential and cawapress candidates, including Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) and Said Aqil Siradj. According to Arya, this is allowed as long as both are not involved in the campaign. Abdee's successor as an Independent Commissioner has not yet been determined. Arya said that this could only be done at the General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS). "Not yet a GMS. We are solid, Telkom is solid, the board of directors is solid, so just wait until the GMS," said Arya.

On Friday (19/1), Abdee stated that he had resigned from the board of commissioners of PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk. This was conveyed when the Slank band declared its support for one of the presidential and vice presidential pairs.
