The BMKG website, Monday, said that heavy rains of more than 50 millimeters per day are predicted to occur in the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Jambi, Bangka Belitung, Lampung, Banten, West Java, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, East Java.

Head of BMKG Dwikorita Karnawati appealed to the public to be alert to extreme weather and hydrometeorological disasters that still threaten most parts of Indonesia until February 2024.
"This extreme weather can occur during the peak period of the rainy season in January and February. The potential for heavy to very heavy rain, strong winds, and high waves still has high opportunities to occur in most parts of Indonesia," he said.
