PONTIANAK - National road conditions in the Mempawah Regency area which is the main road for the northern region of West Kalimantan to be flooded up to half a meter. Drivers passing through the route are asked to be careful.
"It is true that there has been a flood of national roads, namely in Galang Village, Sungai Pinyuh District, Mempawah Regency. We have received this information from BPBD Mempawah. The flood has caused traffic to be long traffic jams and the BPBD has dropped," said Head of the West Kalimantan Regional Disaster Management Agency Information Task Force (BPBD) Daniel in Pontianak, Antara, Thursday, January 18.
He added that the Mempawah BPBD had installed a guide call from two sides so that motorists were careful of the flood disaster that submerged the road.
"The height of the flood reached 50 centimeters. Many vehicles had to be slow and in line. So that it happened long," he said.
According to him, the identification in the flood field occurred because the area was raining with high and long intensity. Then on the right and left sides the ditch narrowed.
"In addition to the rain, flooding due to drainage around the road is not smooth. Both rivers and ditches need to be normalized. For that handling, we have asked BPBD Mempawah to coordinate with related parties to immediately handle it so that traffic can run smoothly and the impact of flooding does not spread," he said.
Previously, in West Kalimantan since early 2024 there has also been a flood, including in Bengkayang Regency, Landak, Kapuas Hulu, Sambas Regency and now Mempawah.
