Keppres Terbit, Kejati Kaltara Officially Formed

TANJUNG SELOR - The High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) of North Kalimantan (Kaltara) this year was officially formed.

East Kalimantan (Kaltim) Kajati Hari Setiyono revealed that the formation of the Kaltara Prosecutor's Office had been approved by President Jokowi through Presidential Decree (Kepres) Number 15/2023 concerning the Determination of the Regional Law of the Kaltara Prosecutor's Office and Presidential Regulation (Pepres) Number 41 of 2023 concerning the establishment of the Kaltara Prosecutor's Office.

"The president is already there, just waiting to see who will be appointed as Kajati Kaltara along with his staff who are on duty, the Attorney General's Office building is currently being prepared in Tanjung Selor," said Kajati Kaltim Hari Setiyono during a working visit in Tanjung Selor, Wednesday, January 17.

In addition to the Kaltara Prosecutor's Office, Hari continued, the Prosecutor's Office will also form a branch office of the Nunukan District Attorney's Office (Kacabjari) on Sebatik Island.

"The formation of Kacabjari Sebatik will coincide with the formation of the Tana Tidung Kejari which will be separated from the Bulungan Kejari. In addition, the planning team from the AGO (AGO) has surveyed Sebatik in October 2023, so later there will be at least five Kejari in North Kalimantan," explained Kajati.

Hari said the formation of the Kaltara Prosecutor's Office was important in legal services in the Kaltara region which had been still under the East Kalimantan Prosecutor's Office.

"The distance between regencies/cities and Samarinda is very far, so if there is a Kaltara Prosecutor's Office, it will certainly be more effective and efficient. Moreover, Kaltara has an area bordering neighboring countries such as Malaysia," he said.

Hari emphasized that the operational budget for the Kaltara Prosecutor's Office had its own budget separate from the East Kalimantan Prosecutor's Office.

"However, currently its operations are still following the East Kalimantan Prosecutor's Office, what is clear is that the budget (Kejati Kaltara) has been separated, but it is still on the same roof," he concluded.
