MEDAN - The Election Supervisory Agency for Batubara Regency, North Sumatra, is tracing the video of an invitation to choose one of the presidential and vice presidential pairs for the 2024 General Election which is suspected to have been carried out by unscrupulous village officials in the district.

The head of the Batubara Regency Bawaslu, M Amin Lubis, said that the video allegedly carried out by village officials had been reported so that the handling process was carried out in accordance with statutory procedures and regulations.

"We are currently investigating the words of village officials in the viral video. Including, summoning a number of witnesses, for questioning," said Amin Lubis as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 17.

However, he said, until now, his party has not been able to conclude because they are still investigating the video.

"We are still in the process of being studied," he said.

In the search, his party will continue to coordinate with the North Sumatra Bawaslu and related policy makers to investigate more deeply related cases.

"The viral video of the village officials occurred a few days ago, before the viral audio video, which was said to be the voice of a number of officials in Batubara Regency and then we will coordinate with Bawaslu," he said.

Previously, Acting Governor of North Sumatra Hassanudin asked all village heads in their regions to be neutral in the General Election and Regional Head Election 2024.

"Although village heads and state civil servants may vote, they should not side with any of the pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates to candidates in the 2024 General Election," said Hassanudin.

According to him, a village head and his apparatus have the power to mobilize the crowd so that election participants will use it for the benefit of the campaign mass.

"The year 2024 is a political year, but as an apparatus and officers there are signs that they are neutral," said Hassanudin.
