Buya Syakur passed away at Mitra Plumbon Hospital, Cirebon, West Java, on Wednesday morning.

According to the Vice President, because of his charismatic personality, Buya Syakur is respected and loved by the community, so that his legacy of goodness and knowledge will continue to be remembered.

"I express my deep condolences for the death of Prof. Dr. KH. Abdul Syakur Yasin," said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin.

"To all Buya Syakur's families, especially the extended family of the Cadangpinggan Islamic Boarding School, Papermaya, Indramayu, hopefully they will be given patience and fortitude in facing this disaster," said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin.

The vice president said the loss of a great scholar, such as Buya Syakur, was not only a loss to his family, but also to the Indonesian people.

"Hopefully the deceased, almaghfurllah, Buya Syakur will be forgiven for all his mistakes, accepted all his good deeds, and placed in the best place in the sight of Allah Subhanahu Wawa Ta'ala," said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin praying.

Buya Syakur was born in 1948 in Tulungagung Village, Sukagumiwang District, Indramayu Regency, West Java. During his lifetime he was known as a broad-minded cleric.

After a dozen years of education at the Babakan Islamic Boarding School, Ciwaringin, Cirebon, Buya Syakur traveled from one country to another to gain knowledge and experience.
