JAKARTA - Kremlin officials said on Monday talks of Ukraine's war peace proposals in Davos would result in nothing, as Russia did not participate in the discussions.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, French President Emmanuel Macron and key Middle Eastern leaders are scheduled to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland this week, making talks to end the war in Gaza and Ukraine the main agenda of global elites. President Volodymyr Zelensky will also be present to lead the Ukrainian delegation at the meeting.

"This is just talk for the sake of conversation," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said when asked about discussions on Ukraine in Davos.

"This process cannot be aimed at achieving certain results for clear reasons, we are not participating. Without our participation, any discussions will not result in any prospects," he said.

Previously, a member of the Federal Council for Foreign Affairs Switzerland, Ignazio Cassis, stated that Russia should be included in peace discussions.

Cassis said efforts to bring Russia into negotiations on Ukraine's war peace mediated by other countries were underway, stressing it could not be held without Moscow's participation.

In response, a spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry said Western countries should stop supplying weapons to Kyiv if they want negotiations on war in Ukraine.

"If it's about the desire of some countries to find a way out of Washington's deadlock, then this is one thing. In this case, they must stop supplying weapons to Ukraine, stop applying anti-Russian sanctions, stop applying anti-Russian sanctions and stop making Russophobic statements," he told the Izvestia newspaper., reported by TASS.

"If this rhetoric is directed at drawing Russia into a kind of psychedelic process based on Western terms to influence Russia's principle approach, we will not be trapped in this trap," he stressed.
