KPK Asked To Fire And Criminalize Employees Involved In Detention Center Extortion

JAKARTA - Former Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Employee Forum Yudi Purnomo Harahap asked firmly to fire and criminalize KPK employees who were involved in the detention case.

Yudi admitted that he was surprised by the number of 93 KPK employees involved in extortion cases and will be tried ethically, he said this undermined the integrity of the KPK which should eradicate corruption cases.

According to him, there are clusters in their actions, from the heaviest to the lightest, so the Supervisory Board (Dewas) and the KPK must be firm and clear in sorting out.

"Fire all who are the masterminds of this extortion case. Then criminalize those who are actively involved in extortion, starting from the intellectual actors who help, participate in enjoying extortion money consciously without coercion," said Yudi in his official statement, Friday, January 12.

The former KPK investigator also mentioned the alleged bribery case that ensnared KPK chairman Firli Bahuri and has been proven to have committed a serious ethical violation.

"KPK chairman 2019-2023 Firli Bahuri was also proven to have violated serious ethics and became a suspect in a corruption case related to the Ministry of Agriculture, now 93 of his employees have been brought to an ethics trial as well. Of course, it is very ironic what happened to the KPK," said Yudi.

Yudi also saw other internal KPK cases that were still in process, such as cases of alleged corruption related to the fictitious official trip carried out by a KPK employee.

Then about 2 KPK leaders, Alexander Marwata and Nurul Gufron, who were reported to the KPK Council on suspicion of violating ethics

"This is a momentum for the KPK to be clean from all actions of its employees and leaders who not only violate ethics but also commit criminal acts, so that it can be clean and improve the anti-corruption system in their own bodies," said Yudi.
