4.3 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Central Maluku, No Tsunami Potential

CENTRAL MALUKU - An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.3 rocked Central Maluku, Maluku, Friday, January 12 at 11.04: 20 WIT. The earthquake did not have the potential for a tsunami.

According to data from the Ambon Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the epicenter was 14 kilometers south of Central Maluku Elpaputi and 19 kilometers northeast of Saparua, Central Maluku, Maluku.

The epicenter was precisely at coordinates 03.42 south latitude and 128.72 east longitude with a depth of 10 kilometers.

According to local residents, Didin, the earthquake was also felt by residents on the coast in West Seram, Amalatu District, precisely in Hualoy Country.

"Until now, there have been no reports from local residents about any damage caused by the earthquake," said BMKG Ambon.

BMKG Ambon continues to urge residents to remain calm and avoid buildings that are cracked or damaged by the earthquake. Residents on the coast should be aware of aftershocks that often occur in Maluku.
