Chinese Foreign Minister Will Make Visits To Africa, Latin America And The Caribbean

JAKARTA - Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will make a working visit to six countries in Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean Islands.

"Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit Egypt, Tunisia, Togo, and Ivory Coast from January 13 to 18. This is Africa's 34th consecutive year as the first annual visit of China's foreign minister abroad," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning when delivering a statement to the media in Beijing, China., reported by ANTARA, Thursday, January 11.

Furthermore, Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit Brazil and Jamaica from January 18 to 22, 2024.

"At last year's China-African Leaders Dialogue at the China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Forum, President Xi Jinping submitted three proposals, namely to support African industrialization, agricultural modernization and talent development, which African countries receive well," said Mao Ning.

Mao Ning said Egypt, Tunisia, Togo and Ivory Coast were friendly partners with China.

"The purpose of Foreign Minister Wang Yi's visit is to carry out follow-up to the Chinese-African Leaders Dialogue, compare African records to the 2024 FOCAC, continue China-African old friendship, and consolidate solidarity relations and cooperation between China and Africa," explained Mao Ning.

Meanwhile, Brazil and Jamaica are also important partners of China in Latin America and the Caribbean.

"We enjoy deep old friendships and are involved in cooperation that is beneficial in the fields of trade, inter-community exchange and others," said Mao Ning.

Mao Ning said Brazil and Jamaica have the same position or with China on many regional and international issues.

"This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Brazil and the 5th anniversary of the Chinese-Jamika strategic partnership," said Mao Ning.

China, said Mao Ning, will take advantage of the opportunity to strengthen the foundation of mutual trust in politics, deepening mutually beneficial and friendly cooperation in all fields.

"As well as increasing communication and coordination on international and regional key issues for the growth of sustainable and substantive relations between China and Brazil, Jamaica, Latin American countries and the Caribbean as a whole," said Mao Ning.
