70 Special TPS Will Be In East Kalimantan, Spread In Prisons, Mining, To IKN Nusantara

The East Kalimantan (Kaltim) General Election Commission (KPU) has prepared 70 polling stations (TPS) specifically for voters in prisons, social institutions, Islamic boarding schools, mining, and plantations, as well as the Nusantara State Capital (IKN) area. "The TPS for special locations is spread across eight districts/cities. The total number of voters at special polling stations is 15,599 thousand, consisting of 13,167 men and 2,432 thousand women," said Kaltim KPU Commissioner for Planning, Data and Information Iffa Rosita in Samarinda, Wednesday, January 10, quoted by Antara. He said, this special location TPS aims to facilitate the voting rights for residents who cannot access regular polling stations due to distance, conditions, or activities. Iffa explained, the details of special TPS per district/city include 17 Paser Regencies, Kutai Kartanegara (Kukar) as many as five TPS, then Berau as many as 13 TPS. "Then, in East Kutai (Kuti) as many as five TPS, Penajam Paser Utara (PPU) as many as two TPS, Balikpapan as 11 TPS, Samarinda as many as 14 TPS, and Bontang as many as five TPS," he said.

Sementara itu, rekapitulasi per kategori lokasi khusus, yakni lembaga pemasyarakatan (Lapas) sebanyak 32 TPS, serta panti sosial/panti rehabilitasi sebanyak satu TPS.Berikutnya di lingkungan pesantren/lokasi pendidikan sebanyak lima TPS, pertambangan sebanyak tujug TPS, perkebunan sebanyak 22 TPS, dan kawasan Ibu Kota Negara (IKN) sebanyak tiga TPS.

"For the IKN area, we place two points in Penajam Paser Utara and one point in Balikpapan," said Iffa. Iffa added, the KPU has coordinated with related parties, such as the local government, the Social Service, the Education Office, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the East Kalimantan Regional Office, companies in the mining and plantation sector, as well as other related parties. "The coordination is to ensure that the implementation of voting at special polling stations runs smoothly and safely," he said. Iffa hopes that with the existence of a special location TPS, all citizens who live in East Kalimantan who have the right to vote can use their rights properly and wisely, as well as participate in the success of democratic and quality elections.
