LUBUK BASUNG - Agam Regent Andri Warman reminded people who live around the valley and the river whose water originates at the top of Mount Marapi to always be aware of the potential for rain lava flooding during this rainy season.

"This must be watched out for by people living around Mount Marapi, by evacuating to a safe location when the potential for lava occurs," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 10.

He said the people around Mount Marapi, climbers, visitors, and tourists should not enter and carry out activities within a radius of 4.5 kilometers from the top of the mountain.

If ash rains, people are asked to use masks to avoid respiratory tract disorders and other equipment to cover their eyes and skin.

In addition, securing clean water facilities and cleaning the roof of the house from thick volcanic ash so that it does not collapse.

All parties are reminded to maintain a conducive atmosphere in society, not to spread false narratives, and not to be provoked by irresponsible issues.

"People are expected to always follow directions from local governments," he said.

The regent's statement was conveyed regarding the increase in the status of the volcanic activity of Mount Marapi from level II (alert) to level III (standby), since Tuesday (9/1), at 18.00 WIB, with recommendations in accordance with the latest potential hazards.

"We held a meeting with related parties in responding to the status of Mount Marapi," he said.
