Not Attending The 51st Anniversary Of PDIP, Jokowi Is Scheduled To Visit The Wedding Of The Son Of The Sultan Of Brunei

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will attend the wedding of the son of Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Hassanal Bolkiah, Prince Abdul Mateen.

President Jokowi's presence was on the sidelines of his state visit to a number of countries in Southeast Asia.

"The nature of bilateral state visits is to fulfill the invitation of the Sultan of Brunei and reply to the Sultan of Brunei's visit to Indonesia," said Special Staff Coordinator of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Ari Dwipayana at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, January 9, which was confiscated by Antara.

Ari said President Jokowi's visit to Brunei Darussalam was aimed at strengthening friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.

He explained that outside of the bilateral agenda, Jokowi might attend Prince Madeen's wedding.

The wedding ceremony of Prince Mateen and his fianc, Anisha Isa Sahibic, was reportedly held for 10 days starting January 7-16, 2024.

Jokowi himself is scheduled to make visits to three countries, namely the Philippines, Vietnam, and Brunei Darussalam, on January 9-14, 2024.

Ari said the agenda for these countries was a return visit from President Jokowi, after Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh each visited Indonesia in September 2023.

The activities in these three countries in Southeast Asia are confirmed to be absent from President Jokowi at the 51st Anniversary of the PDI-P (PDIP) which is commemorated on January 10, 2024.

In the 51st Anniversary of the PDIP, PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri was scheduled to make a speech at the PDIP Lenteng Agung Party DPP School, Jakarta.
