Anies Promises To Guarantee Affordable Pupuk Availability For Farmers

JAKARTA - Presidential Candidate Anies Baswedan promised to ensure the availability of affordable fertilizers for farmers in Indonesia.

This was conveyed by Anies while eating bajamba (eating together) with farmers in Solok City, West Sumatra.

"Regarding this fertilizer, God willing, we will change it. So that we can buy fertilizer at any time, regardless according to the needs of the farmers," Anies said in a written statement reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 3.

The presidential candidate from the Change Coalition sees the need for the seriousness of the state to overcome the fertilizer problem, which has been a farmer complaint.

By calculating the total land and community needs in the country, according to him, the problem of fertilizer difficulties should not be complicated.

"We know how much agricultural land we have, it doesn't change every year, while we also know about households eating rice, is this difficult to take care of?" said Anies.

In addition, he promised to improve the welfare of farmers by implementing a contract farming system which is believed to maintain food price stability, as well as improving agricultural commerce.
