Acquaintance Through The Find Match Application, Women In Trenggalek Are Fooled By Tens Of Millions After The Promise To Be Married

Trenggalek Police, East Java handled a fraud case that used an online matchmaking application, causing the victim, who is a Trenggalek woman, to lose tens of millions of rupiah.

"The perpetrator with the initials DFA, a resident of Bantul, DIY. We have arrested the person concerned after receiving a complaint from the victim," said Trenggalek Police Chief, AKBP Gathut Bowo Supriyono as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 3.

In addition to using the matchmaking application to target victims, DFA trickes its victims by posing as officers of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN).

The trick was effective so that KTN, a young woman from Panggul Trenggalek, was deceived so as to build serious relationships and carry out intimate activities outside of marriage.

"They know them around July 2023, after intense communication, they are dating," said Gathut.

In the communication process leading to the wedding, DFA began to "tortage" victims several times with a nominal value of millions of rupiah.

"To the victim, DFA admitted that the money was needed to raise adopted children. When the victim began to suspect, DFA again assured the victim that she would marry her," he said.

To convince the victim, in October 2023, DFA came to the victim's house with the aim of getting acquainted with his parents.

Even at that time, DFA convinced KTN to come again with his extended family with the aim of proposing to KTN.

At that time, DFA also claimed to be a member of BSSN to the victim's extended family.

"The perpetrator promised to come again with his extended family with the intention of proposing on January 1, 2024," he said.

However, until the specified time, DFA did not come. Even at that time, the extended family of KTN had prepared everything for application purposes.

The victim tried to contact DFA, but at that time DFA reasoned that his family was still stuck in traffic on Jalan Pantura Semarang.

In addition, he reasoned that the driver was exposed to drug raids so that his family was still being held in Semarang.

"Curiga. The victim's family finally reported the incident to the Panggul Police," he said.

The police who received the report immediately moved quickly and secured DFA.

From the results of the examination, it was known that DFA was not a member of BSSN. He only referred as a member of BSSN to lure victims.

It is known that the uniform used by DFA was purchased from an online shop. As a result of this incident, KTN lost tens of millions of rupiah and automatically canceled marriage with DFA.

"The amount of money requested by the perpetrators was used for trading. To account for his actions, the perpetrators were charged with Article 378 or 372 of the Criminal Code with a maximum imprisonment of four years. We urge the public to be aware of all forms of crime," he concluded.
