PADANG - Bukittinggi Class IIA Penitentiary officers thwarted the smuggling of goods that were strongly suspected of being marijuana by an online motorcycle taxi driver on Wednesday (3/1) afternoon.

"This item was found by officers when checking the items that were to be deposited with the Correctional Inmates (WBP) in the prison," said Head of the Security Administration and Order Section of the Bukittinggi Prison, Afrizal, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 3.

He told the chronology of the incident when one of the online motorcycle taxi drivers came to the prison to deliver two packs of cigarettes to one of the inmates who was in the prison.

The officer who received the arrival immediately applied the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) by searching the goods entrusted from outside.

From the results of the search, two packs of cigarettes were finally obtained which wanted to be put into the prison containing items that were strongly suspected of being marijuana.

Regarding these findings, continued Afrizal, his party immediately took action by securing online motorcycle taxi drivers along with evidence, and summoning WBP as the recipient of the goods.

To note, the recipient of the item is now a prisoner with the initials Y, and is serving a sentence at the Bukittinggi Prison related to narcotics cases.

"After that, we immediately coordinated with Sector IV Police to Lift Candung for further investigation," he said.

Meanwhile, inmates Y were placed by the Bukittinggi Prison in solitary cells for the time being waiting for further investigation.
