JAKARTA - The West Jakarta General Election Supervisory Agency (BawasluJakbar) and the administrators of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) immediately discussed the billboards for legislative candidates (caleg) that fell on motorists in Kembangan, West Jakarta on Tuesday (26/12).
"On the day of the incident, we had communication. Tomorrow (3/1) they plan to visit us to discuss the billboard problem," said the Coordinator of the Public Relations and Relations Prevention and Supervision Division between the West Jakarta Bawaslu Institute, Abdul Rouf, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 2.
Rouf argued that the meeting was scheduled to ensure that the political party's billboards were not installed in places that endanger public safety, especially on the side of the road.
"Our meeting followed the incident in Kembangan on Tuesday (26/12) and a similar incident by PSI billboards also in Tambora one week before the incident in Kembangan," said Rouf. In general, said Rouf, the installation of billboards in Kembangan and Tambora that endanger road users does not violate Article 70 of the General Election Commission Regulation (PKPU) Number 15 of 2023 concerning Election Campaigns. "But it is more risky for residents, especially road users. For example, less strong billboards are installed, then collapsing by the wind is dangerous," said Rouf.
Rouf said that PSI was only a pilot because of the incident that had occurred, but the results of the discussion would later apply to all political parties that put up billboards in places that endanger the safety of residents. "That's because there has been an incident, we make PSI a'sampling'. But later appeals to all political parties. That's a lot on the sides of the road," said Rouf.
Furthermore, said Rouf, the meeting also aims to evaluate the installation of dangerous billboards. His party is also ready to provide mapping of dangerous billboards to the relevant political parties for sweeping needs.
"We also evaluate so that we can comb back. If we really need a mapping from us, we will do it. The point is that the installation of dangerous billboards is combed and can be moved," said Rouf.

The meeting was also to discuss the alleged violations in the Kembangan and Tambora incidents some time ago. "So, tomorrow we will also discuss the potential for violations in the Kembangan incident. So that we can give administrative sanctions, such as warnings and others. For more laws, such as crimes, that is the domain of the police," said Rouf.
Previously, the incident was caught on CCTV and uploaded by the Instagram account @warga.jakbar on Friday (29/12) at around 15.00 WIB.
In the video, a motorist was hit by a billboard from the left shoulder of the road. The billboard was torn to the point that he was caught in the motorcyclist's body. The billboards involved were dragged, causing two motorbikes behind him to also fall.
Drivers affected by billboards were injured and taken to a nearby clinic.
