Defense Minister Prabowo Hands Over Clean Water Pipe Assistance For Thousands Of Families In Sukabumi

SUKABUMI - Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto directly handed over pipe assistance for clean water distribution in five locations, precisely to Jampang Kulon District, Cimanggu District, and Purabaya District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java.

The water sources that can be utilized by nearly 1,500 families (KK) are the result of research and exploration, as well as part of the Community Service program of the Water Task Force (Satgas) of the Defense University (IDU), universities under the auspices of the Ministry of Defense.

"I leave a message, all facilities, infrastructure, which have been assisted, given it, guarded, maintained so that its uses, benefits, take longer," Prabowo said during the handover ceremony in Sukabumi, West Java, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, December 30.

During the event, Prabowo directly inspected the process of installing pipes and installations of clean water in Lembur Jami Hamlet and Cimala Hamlet, both of which are located in Karanganyar Village, Jampang Kulon District.

Meanwhile, the sources and installations of clean water in four other locations have also begun to be utilized by residents, namely in Ngluwung Hamlet, Karanganyar Village, Jampang Kulon District; Ciranjang Sawah Hamlet, Karangmekar Village, Cimanggu District; Kuta Hamlet, Purabaya Village, Purabaya District; and Sindanghayu Hamlet, Citamiang Village, Purabaya District.

The total water pipe installed in the aid program is 30.55 kilometers long.

Of the five locations, residents in Lembur Jami Hamlet and Cimala Hamlet are the most beneficiaries of clean water, which is 600 families.

Then, in Karangmekar Village, the source of clean water can be enjoyed by as many as 300 students and 175 families; in Ngluwung Hamlet there are 315 families; in Citamiang Village there are 300 families; and finally in Kuta Hamlet it is 88 families.

The areas in the southern region of Sukabumi have experienced drought and have difficulty accessing water over the past few months, especially during the dry season.

Throughout 2023, the Water Defense Task Force has found water sources and built clean water installations in more than 130 locations spread across various regions, including West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Yogyakarta, West Java, Southwest Maluku, and Banten.

The targeted areas are drought areas and some of them are underdeveloped, frontier, outermost (3T) areas, one of which is Moa Island in Southwest Maluku.

In September 2023, on Moa Island, Praboworereskan 16 water sources were made in the form of wells for the community.

Then, on December 20, 2023, Prabowo also inaugurated five water sources for 1,904 families in Pamupukan Village, Kuningan Regency, West Java.

Furthermore, in October 2023, Prabowo said that he hoped that by the end of December 2023 there would be 200 water points that could be found by the Air Defense Task Force and the residents could immediately use clean water.

In exploring water sources, the Unhan research team used a geoelectric test method, which Prabowo said the technology was almost similar to the seismic test method for oil.

While filling a public lecture in Jakarta in August 2023, Prabowo said that the accuracy of the geoelectric test was almost 100 percent.

Furthermore, after the water source was found, the Air Defense Task Force team drilled underground by utilizing the hole drilling technology, which is believed to be effective in issuing water in various terrains, starting from land, hills, and coastal areas.
